About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Third Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: No experience required. Preferred experience includes CVICU and recovery of open heart procedures. License: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state. Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. - Ability to collaborate and respect diverse perspectives among team members. - Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement safety devices. Description: The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person. Nursing practices focus on creating a caring environment that emphasizes healing and wellness. Clinical decision-making incorporates the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through collaborative relationships among nursing staff and other disciplines. Responsibilities include assessment of patient needs, documentation, and coordinating patient care activities. Nurses perform comprehensive assessments according to established policies and procedures. They consider the patient's culture, age, and developmental level in all evaluations. Identifying patient risk factors and obtaining health information are critical components of the role. Nurses develop problem lists and prioritize patient needs based on input from the healthcare team. Interventions are designed to be relevant to the culture and age of the patient. Desired outcomes are determined in coordination with the patient and family. The RN fully implements patient care therapies and procedures, maintaining clinical autonomy within scope of practice. Clear explanations of procedures, treatments, and processes are provided to patients and families. Initiatives to alleviate patient stress and discomfort are essential duties of the RN. The RN recognizes and communicates changes in patient conditions appropriately. Ongoing assessments and documentation are completed according to hospital policy and established standards. Delegation of tasks is conducted appropriately, overseeing team members' activities related to patient care. Patient education needs are identified and addressed according to patient comprehension levels. Facilitating patient discharge processes involves executing discharge orders in a timely manner. Input is provided into patient/nurse assignments based on staffing and patient acuity. Active participation in unit-based activities supports organizational values and priorities. Nurses promote a positive group dynamic and a healing environment through actions and words. Assurance of nursing excellence aligns with accepted standards, evidence-based practice, and the philosophy of care. Participation in department and unit quality improvement activities is expected. A holistic perspective is utilized regarding patient care.
