Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/09/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Job Description We are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a background in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing to join our team. This position will focus on caring for stroke and neurological patients, as well as those with other neuro diagnoses, including epilepsy and various types of hematomas. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment. Monitor patient conditions, interpret telemetry, and manage dysrhythmias. Administer medications and perform necessary medical procedures including IV starts. Assist with the care of potential neurosurgery patients. Participate in floating to other Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units as required. Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of direct Medical-Surgical experience. Prior traveler experience is mandatory; candidates must have completed a minimum of 2 successful contracts. Local candidates are welcome; rate differences may apply. Certifications required: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS. ACLS certification is preferred but not mandatory. Patient Care Environment The unit comprises a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and has an average daily census of 42 patients across 43 available beds. Scheduling and Orientation Ratios: 1:6 patient-to-nurse ratio. Shifts: 12-hour night shifts. Required to work every other weekend. 36 hours of unit-specific orientation will be provided. Additional Information Travelers must adhere to unit policies, including making up missed shifts within the same week or at the end of their contract. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to the start of their specialty role. Uniform Requirements Navy scrubs are required for this position.
