Maintenance Manager

Overview Maintenance Manager overseeing maintenance of key assets such as lift stations, valves, hydrants, and distribution mains in accordance with SWS maintenance guidelines. Reports to the VP of Operations, ensures continuity of processes, goals, and vision of SWS, and is responsible for 24‑hour responsiveness to service area incidents near Longwood, FL. Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic plans for scheduling and executing maintenance activities per SWS guidelines. Oversee maintenance activities for utility assets including valves, hydrants, lift stations, and dead‑end distribution mains. Recruit, train, evaluate, promote, and discipline maintenance personnel. Manage the maintenance of key assets within the region and issue work orders to subordinates. Maintain accurate data input of maintenance activities in the CMMS system. Collect and update geospatial locations of utility assets to improve GIS/CMMS systems. Stay abreast of federal, state, and local regulations and environmental guidelines related to water/wastewater facilities. Train personnel on maintenance procedures, geospatial location techniques, company policies, and safety protocols. Drive company goals and metrics by motivating employees and fostering a high‑performance culture. Travel daily between worksites on company time. Meet company goals in conformance with budgetary guidelines. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 6 years progressive experience in utility management or the utility industry. Knowledge of operations, maintenance, and processes of collections and distribution systems, including controls, instrumentation, mechanical equipment, and standard practices. Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal water/wastewater collection and distribution regulations. Education, Certification, & Licenses High School Diploma or GED. Must hold or be able to attain Florida distribution system operator in charge license within one year of employment. Valid Florida driver’s license. Nice to Have Completion of multiple utility industry related courses, seminars, management, and supervisory training. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency with MS Word and Excel. Strong supervisory skills, including mentoring, evaluating, and guiding staff to improve morale and efficiency. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, coworkers, and regulatory agencies. Strong coaching skills for addressing complex, difficult, and emotional issues. Effective problem‑solving and decision‑making using judgment consistent with standards, policies, and laws. Ability to delegate responsibilities to maximize employee skills. Accurate record‑keeping and reporting skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to providing safe working conditions for coworkers. Proficient use of company equipment including motor vehicle, Trimble unit, pipe locator, valve exerciser, and other maintenance tools. Work Environment Moderate to heavy physical demands, including lifting 75 lbs., walking 10+ miles daily, climbing, and mechanical repair.
