Business Lines Senior Territory Manager

Description We are seeking a results-driven Senior Territory Manager to own and lead a defined geographic territory, driving profitable premium growth and strong agency performance across a broad commercial product portfolio. In this highly visible role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to independent agents and brokers, balancing day-to-day small commercial flow with strategic pursuit of targeted larger accounts. You'll leverage deep relationship management, data-driven strategy, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize territory performance and achieve financial and operational objectives. Key Responsibilities: Territory & Agency Ownership
• Minimum six years of progressively more responsible insurance sales and management work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of company services, products, marketing techniques, insurance contracts, risk funding and rating plans, and industry trends.
• Proven track record of revenue growth and sales success in a prior role.
• Proven success in developing and building partnerships, decision making and problem solving.
• Advanced knowledge of the business including production management, claims, loss prevention, underwriting, administration, sales operations and agency business operations.
• Highly effective written and oral communication skills, including presentation, persuasion, timing, tact and negotiation skills.
• High degree of customer focus, interpersonal relationship skills and problem solving.
• Advanced analytical thinking, business analytics and business development skills.
• Strong time management and team orientation skills.
• Well versed understanding of marketing principles.
• Must be licensed by the state if required.
• Ability to travel daily with occasional overnight travel.
• Appropriate driving record required to operate a company vehicle. - Lead comprehensive agency management activities, including prospecting, business planning, engagement, training, compensation, and agency plant optimization.

- Independently build and sustain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with agency owners, leadership, and frontline staff through primarily in-person engagement, supplemented by virtual and digital channels.
- Establish credibility as a trusted advisor by delivering product expertise, underwriting philosophy, appetite guidance, and system training.
- Support retention initiatives and new business development to deepen agency relationships and maximize revenue.
- Focus on commercial business lines, working across a broad range of products, coverages, and market appetite.
- Drive consistent flow of small commercial business while strategically engaging agents and brokers on targeted mid-to-larger accounts.
- Manage the account pipeline end-to-end, including renewals, and collaborate across multiple underwriting segments to ensure strong outcomes.
- Ensure appropriate book mix, risk quality, and overall profitability at both the agency and territory level.
- Develop, execute, and continuously refine high-quality agency and territory strategies aligned to enterprise Personal Lines and Business Lines priorities.
- Support strategic initiatives such as carrier consolidation (book transfers), agency expansion, service center integration, and new product or program rollouts.
- Utilize internal and external tools, programs, and data analytics to inform decisions, monitor performance, and identify growth opportunities.
- Partner closely with underwriting, product management, claims, and risk control teams to identify opportunities, resolve issues, and share competitive and market intelligence.
- Act as the voice of the agent and customer within the organization.
- Collaborate with Personal Lines and Business Lines counterparts on shared agency relationships.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to peers and team members, contributing to continuous improvement and best practices.
- Proven experience managing agency relationships and driving profitable growth within commercial insurance.
- Strong consultative, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while managing complex priorities.
- Comfort leveraging data, tools, and insights to guide territory and agency strategies.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory for in-person agency engagement.
- Ownership of a high-impact territory with autonomy to shape strategy and results.
