Manufacturing Engineer II

Our Client, erospace company, is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer II for their Merritt Island, FL location.


Responsibilities:

• Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing processes: fabrication, assembly, and integration.
• Manage quality, build sequence, and schedule for hardware manufacturing processes.
• Perform engineering drawing impact assessments, reviews and approvals for manufacturing.
• Disposition non-conformance repair and rework activities.
• Design proper material handling and packaging solutions to protect hardware.
• Manage hardware configuration and steward build and test pedigrees.
• Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process
• Support the manufacturing floor in assembly and installation, compliance to engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing.
• Perform a hands-on engineering and liaison role between our design, test, and operations teams and our manufacturing customers.
• Investigate root causes, disposition vehicle discrepancies, and take ownership of preventative and corrective actions.
• Drive design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA).

Requirements:

• BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
• 3 or more years direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment supporting constantly evolving design iterations
• demonstrated ability in component fabrication, precision assembly, and testing using a variety of methods, techniques, and materials
• Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures
• Strong aptitude for mechanical system design and hands-on fabrication experience
• Experience with designing, measuring, modifying, and monitoring processes
• Comfortable working with computers and engineering software
• Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization
• Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management skills, particularly in regards to attention to detail
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion

Desired:

• Aerospace/Launch vehicle experience.
• Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: welding, assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, packaging, fabrication, machining, etc.
• General proficiency with CAD.
• Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software and processes
• Knowledge of fabrication processes, integration processes, systems engineering practices, test, quality, and configuration management systems
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
• Familiar with applicable industry standards

• NRE project with the client Manufacturing team
• They unfortunately lost their first rocket so now they are building the second, fixing mistakes from the first build.
• Will be building & standardizing Ops Collector Library
• Ideal candidate will have aerospace background, experience with non-conformance handling, windchill exp, experience with HIS specs
• Avionics exp a big plus
• Technical writing experience a plus
• Strongly prefer aerospace experience
• Associates degree ok with the required experience
• Level 2 needs a minimum of 2-3 years exp; Level 3 needs a minimum of 5-6 years experience
