What You Will Be Doing: This position is part of a healthcare team who plans organizes and directs recreational programs and special event activities in the Pioneer Home a long-term care facility. This position performs a variety of recreation related tasks involving elder residents in activities to promote maintain or restore their physical and mental health. This includes the treatment and rehabilitation of residents with various physical or mental abilities.

The Working Environment You Can Expect: This job is in the Anchorage Pioneer Home an assisted living home at 923 W. 11th Avenue in Anchorage Alaska. It overlooks an area known as the Park Strip with views of the Chugach Mountains easily visible from most floors of the home.

Special Note:

• This position is in support of the Anchorage Pioneer Home which is a 24-hour facility.
• This Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility where the environment includes contact with plants flowers and pets including cats dogs fish and birds.
• Employees of the Pioneer Home receive continual screening for tuberculosis and criminal history.

Graduation from high school or the equivalent and two years of work experience including one year of dealing successfully with the public. Must have current Alaska drivers license.

College education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Special Note

• Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation and fingerprinting as a prerequisite to employment.
• Some positions require the successful applicant to operate State vehicles for the transportation of residents. Such positions require the applicant possess Alaska Driver License and the ability to obtain passes to military bases and hospitals.
• Some positions may require the successful applicant to provide proof they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire. Employees are required to be screened annually.
• These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.

Additional Required Information

At time of interview applicant must provide:

1. Three (3) professional references (including work/supervisor-related) with current contact information.
2. Last two (2) performance evaluations if available.

If selected and prior to hire applicants will be asked to:

1. Submit fingerprinting and criminal background check screening.
2. Provide current evidence to be free from active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) with test results dated within the last twelve (12) months prior to start date.
3. Provide a copy of current CPR and First Aid certificate(s) if available.
4. Provide a copy of your Alaska drivers license.
5. Provide a copy of your Activities Certification with the National Association of Activities Professionals.
