- Bachelor's Degree
- Master's Degree in Music Therapy
- Board certification (MT-BC) through the Certification Board for Music Therapists
- Demonstrated experience providing music therapy services to children or adolescents, preferably in a school or educational setting
- Experience of working with students with disabilities (e.g., Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional/Behavioral Needs, Multiple Disabilities)
- Experience developing and implementing individualized plans aligned with IEP goals
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. (e.g. Special Education Teachers, Speech Therapists, occupational therapists, administrators)
- Experience documenting services and maintaining compliance with school, district, and state guidelines
- Familiarity with Texas special education processes (ARD/IEP meetings, progress monitoring, service documentation
- Experience providing group and individual therapy sessions in a classroom setting
- Experience training or coaching staff on integrating music strategies into daily instruction
- Knowledge of the needs of students with disabilities across a range of ages and abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when working with students, staff, and families
- Ability to provide professional development and in-service training to staff
- Knowledge of general education music programs to support inclusion and collaborative opportunities
- Understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., teachers, SLPs, OT/PT, administrators)
- Skill in using music-based interventions to support communication, behavior, social-emotional, and motor goals
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines
- Flexibility and adaptability in a variety of classroom and campus settings

Instructional Management
- Provides direct individual and group music therapy services in accordance with students' IEPs
- Conducts assessments and evaluations to determine the need of music therapy services
- Develops and implements therapy plans aligned with IEP goals
- Collaborate with campus staff to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate music therapy services
- Utilizes data (IEPs, progress monitoring, and student records) to guide instruction and program improvement
- Provides music therapy strategies, resources, and materials to support instructional goals
- Participates in ARD meetings and provides input regarding student needs and services
- Demonstrates effective music therapy techniques to support student success
- Communicates and promotes high expectations for special education staff and students in the music program
- Promotes use of positive discipline management plan to special education classrooms
- Recognizes/rewards music therapy students' accomplishments in a variety of ways
- Facilitates conflict resolution through the use of effective communication skills
- Assists at the departmental level in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of special education policies, programs, and curriculum as they relate to the music therapy program.
- Utilizes information systems to monitor special education students' progress as the basis for educational program improvement (e.g., assessments, attendance, IEP mastery, etc.).
- Assesses annually (through the Admission Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process) attainment of lEP objectives and analyzes appropriate placement
- Collaborates with staff to support effective service delivery models
- Encourages participation by special education staff in staff development options available to address program/District/employee goals.
- Serves as leader of special education staff development sessions.
- Communicates expectations to special education staff regarding job performance.
- Ensures students are coded accurately on ARD service page for monitoring purposes.
- Facilitates prompt and accurate reports from campus to special education office.
- Monitors the use and storage of materials and equipment to comply with state/federal laws and regulations.
- Collaborates with campus staff and parents to address student needs and concerns
- Supports the delivery of related services of students with specialized needs
- Demonstrates effective classroom strategies and techniques for improving classroom and student issues
- Conducts conferences with parents, teachers, and staff regarding student progress
- Promotes positive staff and community relations through effective dissemination of information.
- Communicates clearly the district's music therapy program, goals, and new directions to staff and parents to broaden their knowledge of the program.
- Responds to the concerns of parents and the community in a timely manner.
- Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner.
- Participates in available employee development activities.
- Uses information provided through evaluative feedback to improve performance.
- Assumes responsibility for acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for fulfilling job duties and improving leadership skills.

- Hourly district-wide travel daily; moderate lifting and positioning of students; carries heavy musical equipment from campus to campus daily
