Fleet Technician

The Fleet Technician performs highly-skilled analysis and interpretation of technical data and performs mechanical maintenance and repair work to the complex components and systems fleet vehicles and equipment.

The Fleet Technician performs highly-skilled analysis and interpretation of technical data and performs mechanical maintenance and repair work to the complex components and systems fleet vehicles and equipment.

This position requires a High school diploma or equivalent and three years of mechanical work experience. Must obtain a Class "A", Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Air Brake and tank vehicle endorsements within six months of employment. Must obtain a Minnesota Commercial Vehicle Inspector Certification and an Air Conditioning certification within twelve months of employment.

Post-secondary training in auto mechanics, heavy equipment mechanic experience, small engine repair experience, agricultural equipment (e.g., tractors) repair experience, A.S.E. (Automotive Service Excellence) certification, and welder experience and certifications are highly desirable.

Prior experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment and diesel engines.

Prior experience with repair and maintenance experience of automobiles and light trucks.

Prior repair and maintenance experience with small engines, both 2- and 4-cycle.

Prior experience working as a mechanic in a fleet environment.

Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

Hours / Days: 7:00 am - 3:30pm / Monday Friday / 40 hours per week. Work, schedules (hours and days) are subject to change based on department needs.

Anticipated Pay Rate: $30.63 - $36.67 Hourly

Washington County participates in the federal E-Verify program. This means that Washington County will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
