Orthopedic Tech/Medical Assistant, Orthopedics

Job Summary Mass General Brigham’s Medical Group is a system‑led entity focused on delivering high‑quality, low‑cost ambulatory care across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine. This role supports interdisciplinary teams in an orthopedic practice located at 7 Marsh Brook Drive, Somersworth, NH. Essential Functions Set up and apply traction according to standard procedures. Assist with the application of casts, braces, prostheses, and other orthopedic devices; requisition, store, and dispense supplies. Inspect and maintain orthopedic equipment. Instruct patients in cast care, simple exercises, crutch or cane use; apply sterile and non‑sterile dressings. Make splints, slings, foot pieces. May make rounds with orthopedic physicians and carry out instructions. Cut and fashion devices from metal, plastic, leather, and wood using equipment and hand tools. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred. Orthopaedic Technologist Certification (OTC) preferred. Experience 2‑3 years related patient care experience required. 0‑1 year orthopedics experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of standard orthopedic procedures and practices. Working knowledge of orthopedic devices and appliances and proper fitting. Knowledge of medical terminology pertaining to orthopedics. Effective communication with patients regarding device use and care. Maintain effective working relationships with practitioners and other support staff. Sensitivity to and communication with diverse patients. Strongly Preferred Ortho Tech certification obtained within one year of hire. Additional Job Details Our practice is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The 40‑hour weekly schedule is staggered; occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends may be required. Cross‑coverage opportunities exist at the on‑site Orthopedic Walk‑In Clinic (Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑8:00 pm; Saturday 8:00 am‑1:00 pm). Compensation Hourly rate: $18.78 – $26.80.
