Job Description Security Officer Supervisor will perform duties related to the enforcement of security regulations and procedures to protect KSRE personnel, customers, visitors, information, property and other assets. Must be proficient in the operation of security, safety, and emergency monitoring devices. Must be willing to work additional hours as needed in an emergency or personnel shortage. This security position is a full‑time role. Entrusted with overseeing a team of security officers while ensuring the security operations run smoothly and efficiently. The position requires a blend of leadership, strategic thinking, and hands‑on management to protect valuable assets, people, and information. General Summary When not available to work for any reason, prior notice must be provided as soon as possible. Essential Job Functions Supervision: Assigns shifts, monitors performance, and ensures security officers adhere to protocols. Patrolling: Regularly patrol the premises to prevent theft, violence, and rule infractions. Ensures security officers conduct routine patrols of the premises to detect potential security threats. Monitoring Access: Control access to the property by monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons. Ensures all entry and exit points are monitored and unauthorized access is prevented. Incident Reporting: Write detailed reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as property damage, theft, or unauthorized presence. Emergency Response: Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances, calling police or fire departments in emergencies. Ensures security officers are prepared to respond effectively to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, or security breaches. Surveillance: Monitor CCTV footage and conduct inspections to ensure security of doors, windows, and gates. Customer Service: Interact with the public, providing information and assistance as needed while maintaining a professional demeanor. Compliance: Ensure compliance with NISPOM, ICD 705, UL standards, and applicable governmental policies. Location Crane, IN Other Job Functions Facility surveillance: Patrol the campus on foot, by mobile, or from a fixed post. Monitor electronic surveillance continuously for intruders. During each scheduled shift, make rounds stopping at each key station, detect breaches, contact authorities, maintain detailed reports, lock/unlock doors, and turn off lights during certain shifts. Facility Access: Monitor and control employee and non‑employee access to all areas. Follow correct procedures for visitors and after‑hour sign‑in. Emergency Response: Understand and implement the incident response command system. Maintain emergency contact information and know how to contact required individuals during an emergency. Cooperate with local authorities as needed. Alarm Response: Respond to internal and external alarms following all required procedures. Reports all security concerns as observed and any failures of security systems (access, intrusion, video). Displays courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with others, providing outstanding customer service to everyone. Perform additional duties and assist other employees as assigned. Experience and Skills Required Experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Leadership & Supervision: Guide, motivate, and train security officers, ensuring coverage, incident response, and compliance with NISPOM and other policies. Attention to Detail: Utilize established monitoring systems, ensuring accuracy of records and timely data entry. Effective Communication: Foster a team environment where information flows freely and decision‑making is collaborative. Planning and Organization: Identify issues, plan actions, and ensure objectives are achieved. Technical Expertise: Apply professional knowledge and judgment to accomplish results that serve customers better. Adaptability: Work effectively under changing conditions, embracing new ideas and adjusting behavior accordingly. Judgment: Make rational decisions based on facts and consider all pertinent factors. Initiative and Productivity: Take proactive actions to achieve goals beyond required duties. Education and Experience Minimum Qualifications U.S. citizenship required. 5 years prior security, military, or law enforcement experience. Must be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance equivalent to Department of War SECRET eligibility. Minimum high‑school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of and ability to utilize the MS Office suite (email, Word, Excel). Valid driver’s license. Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Team‑oriented work style. Security experience in government or highly secure facilities (preferred). Work Environment / Physical Requirements Work Environment & Conditions This position involves indoor and outdoor work and may be subject to various weather conditions. It requires office and laboratory work and the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection, as needed. Physical Demands Use a computer for extended periods. Sit and stand for extended periods. Walk or climb stairs as required. Handle demanding situations and potentially confrontational encounters.
