Job Title: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years' experience required License: Active IL license or in application process Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Med/Surg experience required Required Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response experience, including telemetry Gastrointestinal case skills/experience: Colostomy care, feeding tube care and management Genitourinary/Renal case skills/experience: Pre/Post hemodialysis management, renal failure IV therapy/Phlebotomy skills/experience: Accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs Medication skills/experience: Heparin, insulin, patient-controlled analgesia Respiratory case skills/experience: CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank, tracheostomy management Professional knowledge and skills: Isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac Cerner experience required Description: Position is for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse. The shift is nights, working three 12-hour shifts per week. The average daily census is 35 patients. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience. First-time travelers are not accepted. Weekend work is required, approximately every other weekend. Candidates will float as needed within the department. Local candidates are accepted without radius restrictions. There are ideally no more than five days of requested time off. The client may call off up to 36 hours per assignment without payment for the cancelled hours. Special skills required include cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience, gastrointestinal care, renal management, IV therapy, medication administration, and respiratory care. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, and social services. Patient demographics primarily include adults and geriatrics. Daily patient diagnoses include general medical conditions, complications from hemodialysis, sepsis, and infections. Required procedures may include thoracentesis and management of surgical drains. Essential equipment may include bladder scanners, glucometers, and vital carts.
