Director of Nursing - Nursing Home Experience

Responsible for the organization and administration of nursing services within the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) and Rehabilitation Services. The Director of Nursing – (TCU) holds administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for the functions and activities of nursing, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), speech-language pathology (SLP), and ancillary staff.

The Director of Nursing – TCU ensures that the comprehensive needs of residents are met and maintains ongoing communication with senior leadership and the Medical Director regarding the activities, performance, and operations of nursing services.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and monitors the nursing quality improvement process in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations and long-term care standards, as well as established accreditation requirements.
• Meets regularly with the Medical Director and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator to review and evaluate overall nursing performance and outcomes.
• Serves as an active member of the organization’s Quality Improvement team, supporting ongoing performance enhancement initiatives.
• Evaluates resident satisfaction survey results and identifies opportunities for improvement to enhance quality of care and service delivery.
• Provides oversight for daily monitoring, evaluation, and facilitation of the revenue collection and clinical documentation processes to support accurate revenue capture.
• Reviews patient records for completeness and ensures accurate and thorough documentation on charge capture tools and documentation systems.
• Identifies missed or lost charges and coordinates appropriate corrective action to ensure accurate charge capture.
• Documents additions and corrects charge-related errors in accordance with established departmental standards and procedures.
• Communicates identified charging and documentation issues to appropriate department personnel to ensure timely resolution.
• Provides ongoing education and support to staff to improve documentation accuracy and optimize charge capture processes.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in nursing supervision and/or administration
• Minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in rehabilitation nursing

Licensure & Certifications

• Current and active Registered Nurse license in the State of New Jersey
• CPR certification required per organizational policy
• IV certification required per organizational policy
