SCHOOL NURSE - SUBSTITUTE

The School Nurse Substitute, under the general direction of the Special Services Director and Lead Registered Nurse, manages and delivers school health services in assigned school and programs. The School Nurse's scope of practice is defined by law and standard professional nursing organizations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Assesses the physical and emotional health of students as related to the educational process.
• Manages health concerns within the scope of school nurse practice.
• Carry out healthcare provisions of Individual Education Plans (I.E.P's).
• Perform professional nursing tasks as needed, including emergency services and supportive care for students.
• Counsel students, parents and faculty in health-related areas upon referral or request.
• Provide consultation in the areas of communicable disease prevention and control.
• Serve as School Health Liaison to community agencies and medical care facilities.

Qualifications:

• RN with current Washington state license
• Bachelor of Science in nursing, preferred
• ESA certification, or the ability to obtain one
• BLS Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid credentials
• Flexible hours
• Responding to stressful situations appropriately.
• Maintaining regular attendance and punctuality.
• All positions are on site and in person.

Wages $175.00 for 7.5 hours or $87.50 for 3.75 hours Benefits - Medical, Retirement, Basic Life/AD&D, Basic Long-Term Disability, FSA & HSA. Any employee anticipated to work at least 630 hours in the school year is eligible for benefits.
