About This Role
The Early Childhood Educator at Kandy Kane Learning Center is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, structured, and engaging environment where young children can learn, grow, and develop. Our educators are an important part of each child’s early years and are expected to treat every child with patience, kindness, respect, and consistency.
The Early Childhood Educator works as part of the KKLC team to provide quality care, support classroom learning, maintain a clean and organized environment, communicate with families, and follow all center policies and state licensing requirements.
Essential ResponsibilitiesChild Safety & Supervision- Maintain active supervision of children at all times.
- Ensure children are safe, accounted for, and appropriately supervised throughout the day.
- Follow all KKLC safety procedures and state licensing requirements.
- Maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
- Never leave children unattended.
- Respond appropriately to children's individual needs and behaviors.
- Report accidents, injuries, illnesses, or safety concerns promptly to administration.
- Provide age-appropriate learning experiences, activities, and opportunities for exploration.
- Follow the classroom curriculum and daily schedule.
- Encourage children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
- Read books, sing songs, engage in conversations, and participate in hands-on activities with children.
- Support children's independence and age-appropriate life skills.
- Adapt activities when appropriate to meet individual children's developmental needs.
- Create a positive classroom environment where children feel secure, valued, and encouraged to learn.
- Maintain a structured and predictable classroom routine.
- Use positive guidance and redirection when addressing challenging behaviors.
- Establish clear and age-appropriate expectations.
- Never use inappropriate discipline, humiliation, threats, or harsh treatment.
- Maintain a calm and professional demeanor, even during challenging moments.
- Work with classroom team members to provide consistent expectations and care.
- Assist children with meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, handwashing, nap/rest time, and other daily needs.
- Follow all feeding and food safety procedures.
- Ensure infants and young children receive food prepared in an age-appropriate and safe manner.
- Follow individual care instructions provided by families and approved by the center.
- Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation throughout the classroom.
- Keep classroom materials and children's belongings organized and properly labeled.
- Keep the classroom clean, sanitary, and organized throughout the day.
- Sanitize toys, surfaces, equipment, and frequently touched areas as required.
- Complete assigned cleaning and classroom responsibilities.
- Maintain an organized classroom that supports children's learning and independence.
- Report maintenance, supply, or safety concerns to administration.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents and guardians.
- Share appropriate information about a child's day, activities, meals, naps, diapering/toileting, and accomplishments.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Direct concerns, complaints, or sensitive matters to administration when appropriate.
- Respond to parent communication within the expectations established by KKLC.
- Arrive on time and be prepared to begin work at the scheduled start time.
- Follow assigned schedules and classroom responsibilities.
- Clock in and out accurately.
- Follow all KKLC policies, procedures, and employee expectations.
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
- Maintain required credentials and training.
- Work cooperatively with coworkers and administration.
- Accept coaching and feedback and use it to improve professional performance.
- Represent KKLC in a positive and professional manner.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with children, families, and coworkers.
- Follow KKLC's policies regarding cell phones, outside food, dress code, and other workplace expectations.

- Follow KKLC curriculum, schedules, policies, and Georgia licensing requirements.
- Communicate with families about their child's day, accomplishments, and needs.
- Work closely with your classroom team and KKLC administration.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings.
- Help create a positive, dependable, and team-focused environment for children and coworkers.
- Be a consistent and caring presence in the lives of the children entrusted to your care.
- Must meet applicable Georgia licensing requirements for the position.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with young children.
- Must be dependable, responsible, and professional.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with children, families, and coworkers.
- Must be able to work as part of a team.
- Must complete required background checks, health requirements, and training as applicable.
The Early Childhood Educator must be able to perform the physical responsibilities associated with caring for young children, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, lifting and carrying children when necessary, and participating in active classroom and outdoor activities.
