Technology Specialist Tier 1 InternThe Technology Specialist Tier 1 Intern will be mentored and taught to support the goals of the district and technology department by maintaining systems, peripherals, applications, and network infrastructure. This position provides technology-related assistance to all staff as directed by the Technology Coordinator. This candidate will be mentored and taught how to install, maintain, operate, and repair technology equipment, including hardware and software at all district locations. This is a 12-month position and will work the entire year. Essential duties and responsibilities include making decisions and demonstrating actions that support the mission, vision, goals, and interests of the school district and of students. The candidate will communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors, staff, and guests. They will maintain confidentiality of student and staff information. They will provide hardware and software support of all staff and students in the school district as directed by the Technology Coordinator. They will assist staff with technology projects including classroom audio and video setups. They will ensure efficient and timely responses to technology helpdesk tickets. They will assist the Technology Coordinator in planning for the delivery of services to staff and coordinating the use of technology for teaching and learning. They will support the use of instructional software in the school district. They will maintain, operate, and distribute computer equipment and software as assigned. They will be responsible for setting up equipment for special programs and meetings as required. Flexible hours may be assigned. They will assist in managing the school district's technology resources through equipment scheduling and inventory maintenance. They will assist in maintaining the school district's telecommunications systems, website, and Internet presence. They will install, monitor and update software as needed. They will perform maintenance tasks on high-use software. They will adjust network user rights and permissions when necessary. They will assist in the operation of the school district's ticketing system. They will complete work in established time frames, seek appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed, or pace is slow. They will consistently arrive at work on time and complete all tasks as directed. They will inform the administrator immediately of the existence of any problems deemed to warrant prompt attention, advice, or intervention. They will perform special assignments and other duties as determined by the administrator.Qualifications include a completed high school diploma. Thirty plus semester hours of college level credit are preferred but not required. One to three plus years of technology education and/or training support experience, focus in an educational setting is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Strong organizational skills for troubleshooting and research are required. Preferred knowledge includes experience with Google Workspace/Google Workspace for Education, Apple School Manager (ASM) / Apple Business Manager (ABM), Mosyle, JAMF, or other MDM, macOS, iPadOS, Chrome OS, and Windows operating systems, classroom audio/video, document cameras, and projectors, GoGuardian or similar content filtering software, PowerSchool or similar SIS, Infinite Visions or similar educational ERP, National and State of IL educational assessment applications, inventory and asset tracking systems, Mac, Chromebook, and iPad hardware repairs, printer and copier configuration and troubleshooting, Active Directory and Group Policy management.Skills required include the ability to work well with fellow employees and provide support/training to non-technical staff, ability to travel amongst district schools located in Glen Ellyn and Wheaton, ability to manage tasks to required deadlines, ability to self-direct and make decisions in absence of supervisor, ability to maintain a positive and flexible attitude toward daily responsibilities, ability to create and maintain technical documentation, ability to support Board of Education Meetings that occur on evening and/or weekends, ability to monitor machines via RMM and take appropriate action(s) on as necessary, participate in the management of organizational licensing and software renewals. Physical demands include sitting, standing, talking, and hearing.Salary and benefits: All non-certified staff that fall under the Support Professional Association "SPA" are placed on a salary schedule according to position and experience as part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The hourly range for this position is: $23.00- $26.75. Non-certified staff experience 13 sick days and 4 personal days of paid time off.
