Job Description:


- Perform head-to-toe assessments on patients, including reassessments, per policy.
- Assess and reassess pain utilizing appropriate evaluation methods.
- Utilize effective pain management techniques and educate patients and families on pain management strategies.
- Develop, revise, and evaluate plans of care based on patient responses to treatment.
- Provide patient care tailored to the specific needs and standards of care for various age groups.
- Maintain knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan to provide age-appropriate care.
- Administer medications correctly based on patient age and clinical condition, following the five medication rights to minimize errors.
- Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate their effectiveness; involve families when appropriate.
- Execute technical and manual nursing skills within the scope of licensure and seek guidance on unfamiliar issues.
- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psycho-social, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
- Act as a liaison among patients, families, administration, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, and team members.
- Engage patients and families in developing treatment plans.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients and families to reduce the risk of medical errors.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs.
- Maintain clear communication with unit directors, co-workers, and physicians.
- Cultivate good relationships within the unit and among different departments.
- Address psychosocial needs of patients and families effectively.
- Coordinate with Care Coordination regarding in-hospital and post-discharge plans and needs.
- Document care in accordance with current standards and policies.
- Safely and correctly manage and operate medical equipment.
- Coordinate and supervise patient care, exhibiting flexibility and organization in stressful situations.
- Maintain annual competencies, including bedside blood glucose waived testing.

Requirements:


- Minimum of 1 year of LD experience [REQUIRED]
- Postpartum and nursery experience [REQUIRED]
- Current ACLS (AHA) certification [REQUIRED]
- Current BLS (AHA) certification [REQUIRED]
- Current NRP certification [REQUIRED]
- BSN degree preferred
- Provide COVID vaccination card if applicable
- Full profile-resume and skills checklist within the last year
- Active Ohio or compact license at the time of submission
