Major/Essential Functions:

• Admits, evaluates, diagnoses, and manages hospitalized newborns in the newborn nursery, intermediate/special care nursery, or neonatal intensive care unit setting

• Coordinates care and provides medical management for newborns born at greater than 32 weeks gestation, critically ill, or requiring surgical intervention.

• Delivers neonatal care in collaboration with neonatology faculty, including management of conventional mechanical ventilation, up to 24 hours

• Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations

• Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures

• Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso

• Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties

• Contributes to the community through academically related public service, complementary to the institutional mission

• Engages in the advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship

• Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

Preferred Qualifications:

• Board certification in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics

• Progressive experience in management and leadership in an academic health center

• Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher

• Bilingual (English and Spanish)

• Emerging or established regional or national professional reputation for the rank of Associate Professor or higher

• Experience in teaching students and residents in pediatric hospital/neonatal medicine
