Job Details Registered Nurse (RN) – Heart Failure Unit. Full‑Time. Day/Midnight rotating 12‑hour shifts. Hours: 7 A‑7 P & 7 P‑7 A (rotating shifts). Weekends and holidays as required. Newark, DE. Unit Overview The Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital is a 36‑bed specialized post‑critical care complex cardiac unit providing high‑acuity care to patients with complex heart failure and post‑operative cardiac needs. Within the unit, 12 beds are designated for the post‑operative open‑heart surgery and LVAD patient population requiring advanced clinical expertise and specialized nursing competencies. Responsibilities As a Registered Nurse on 5E, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients who may have chest tubes and surgical drains, large‑bore central venous catheters, and external cardiac pacing wires. RNs are responsible for advanced assessment, continuous hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and early detection of changes in patient condition. Education & Requirements BSN preferred. Commitment to obtaining a BSN within three years of hire required. At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse required. Previous step‑down experience preferred. Previous critical‑care experience preferred. BLS required; ACLS preferred. Delaware RN licensure or eligibility for licensure in Delaware. Compensation Hourly pay range: $41.28 – $66.05. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
