Registered Nurse (Med Surg)

Overview QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) candidates to provide high-quality, comprehensive nursing care within the Medical Surgical Unit (Med/Surg) at Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC), Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM). These positions will support the care of patients with complex medical and surgical conditions and require nurses who are comfortable managing high-acuity patients and providing care across a wide range of ages and clinical needs. This role requires a dependable nursing professional who can meet government qualification, credentialing, security, and onboarding requirements while working under a personal services arrangement. The ideal candidate will bring recent registered nursing experience in a primary care or occupational medicine setting, a current unrestricted RN license, strong clinical judgment, and a commitment to supporting mission readiness and high-quality care for service members and eligible patient populations. Duty Hours: Day Shift Duty Hours: 0700 - 1930; 0700 – 1730; 0700-1530; 0900-1930, 1100-1930; 0600-1630; 0900-1730; 0900-2130; 1100-2130;1200-2030; 0800-1630; 0830-1700; 0900-1730; 0930-1800; 1030-1900; 0530-1800 Evening Shift Duty Hours: 1100-2330; 1500-2330; 1500-0330; 1000-2230; 1200-0030;1500-0330; 1300-2330; 1300-2130; 1700-2330 Night Shift Duty Hours: 1900-0330; 1900-0730; 2300-0730; 2100-0730 4-hour shifts may be implemented into the duty hours if needed by the unit. Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities Obtain and document patient and family history, medical directives, assessments, symptoms, reactions, and progress. Assess patients, develop and manage individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate patient responses. Administer medications and blood products safely, including IV, IM, oral, subcutaneous, transdermal, and rectal medications. Maintain knowledge of medication actions, adverse effects, interactions, and appropriate dosages. Chemotherapy RNs: May administer anti-cancer chemotherapy only after completing the required documented education and providing verification to the COR and unit. Monitor and interpret information collected by LVNs and unlicensed personnel and notify medical staff of significant findings. Provide patient and family education and serve as a patient advocate. Perform direct patient-care activities such as lifting, turning, transporting, ambulating, positioning, hygiene, feeding, and range-of-motion exercises. Assist physicians with treatments and examinations and complete patient admissions and discharges. Manage appropriate procedures involving the tissue/skin bank and blood bank. Communicate patient status and pertinent information during handoffs and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Participate in patient-care conferences, nursing reports, team/unit meetings, discharge planning, and multidisciplinary care conferences. Follow MAMC documentation, quality assurance, risk management, and patient/staff safety requirements. Recognize abnormal and potentially life-threatening conditions and initiate lifesaving measures when necessary. Operate emergency equipment such as EKG machines and cardiac monitors and respond appropriately to cardiac/respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, severe trauma, and psychiatric emergencies. Maintain professionalism and composure when interacting with patients, families, and individuals who may be distressed, angry, or difficult. Minimum Requirements Experience: Minimum one year experience within the last two years as a registered nurse assistant working in a Medical/Surgical Unit. Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen. Licensure: Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a registered nurse. Certification(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. Web-based (on-line) classes are not acceptable by the Government. Degree/Education: Minimum of Associate’s degree in nursing. The school must be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and/or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). For education outside the United States, only the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing School reports are accepted (CGFNS), for overseas degree verification.
