Emergency Department/Acute Care Manager

This role is a 13-week local travel contract for an Emergency Department/Acute Care Manager in Garberville, California. The manager will lead daily operations, support staff, and ensure compliance while driving patient-centered care. The position offers up to $3,750 per week and a path to permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the Emergency Department and Acute Care to promote efficient workflows and high-quality patient care.
• Provide leadership, direction, and support to nurses and clinical staff while fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
• Coordinate staffing, schedules, and departmental resources to maintain appropriate patient care coverage.
• Provide shift coverage in the Acute Care or Emergency Department when needed, within the scope of professional licensure and clinical competency.
• Review, evaluate, and update departmental policies and procedures to support current clinical practices and organizational standards.
• Ensure departmental compliance with applicable state and federal healthcare regulations, facility policies, and accreditation requirements.
• Monitor clinical performance, identify operational challenges, and implement process improvements.
• Promote patient safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, hospital administration, and interdisciplinary teams to address clinical and operational needs.
• Support staff development, coaching, accountability, and professional growth.
• Maintain accurate departmental documentation and reports in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
• Help create a positive workplace culture that prioritizes teamwork, communication, and high standards of patient care.

Qualifications:

• At least one year of Emergency Department or Acute Care management experience.
• Nursing degree from an accredited program, or another relevant healthcare qualification.
• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, as applicable to the role.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required based on clinical responsibilities and facility requirements.
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal healthcare regulations and departmental compliance standards.
• Strong organizational skills and effective time management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and passionate about leadership, people development, and clinical excellence.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, administrators, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Experience reviewing, revising, and updating departmental policies and procedures.
• Interest in pursuing a potential permanent position following the initial contract assignment.
