Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Clinical Resource Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: IL Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations. - Ability to manage care for both acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. - Ability to develop, implement, and modify patient care plans. - Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects. - Skill in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care. - Skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration. - Ability to document care accurately using EMR. - Ability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions. - Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in the professional development of peers. - Ability to handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. - Skill in critical thinking to assess patient status and take appropriate action. - Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. - Ability to prioritize patient safety and adhere to all safety standards including fall precautions and pressure ulcer prevention. - Ability to complete patient bedside shift reports and hourly rounding. - Ability to delegate appropriately and follow up on delegated tasks. Description: The Clinical Resource Unit is committed to a Nursing Professional Practice Model. The focus is on caring relationships with patients, families, and colleagues to provide exceptional care. Dedicated nursing staff, nurse leaders, interdisciplinary team members, and physician partners collaborate to provide specialized medical and nursing care. The environment is fast-paced, exciting, and always evolving. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. Complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate plans of care. Implement and modify plans of care based on continuous evaluation. Communicate directly to resolve issues and offer constructive feedback to peers. Float to various inpatient units as needed. Provide direct nursing care and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members. Conduct and document patient assessments and nursing diagnoses. Act as a resource to staff from various units and coordinate care with team members. Manage care of acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. Collaboratively identify patient goals of care and design care plans with patients and families. Implement interventions as needed, including medication administration and evaluation of effects. Prepare patients for procedures, provide pain management, perform IV venipuncture, and monitor labs. Discharge patients and provide instructions for safe transition. Ensure team huddles occur and complete hourly rounding on assigned patients. Maintain patient safety as the highest priority and ensure compliance with safety measures. Use critical thinking to evaluate overall patient condition and respond appropriately to changes. Effectively communicate within the healthcare team to promote collaboration and patient safety. Assess and manage patients during the post-operative phase. Provide education to patients and families regarding care and discharge plans.
