About the Role:

The Personal Care Assistant plays a vital role in supporting individuals who require assistance with daily living activities, primarily within assisted living facilities or home care settings. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for patients by providing compassionate, respectful, and personalized care tailored to their unique needs. The role involves close interaction with residents or clients, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being while promoting independence whenever possible. The Personal Care Assistant also serves as a key communicator between patients, families, and healthcare professionals, maintaining accurate records and reporting any changes in condition promptly. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to creating a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters dignity and respect for those receiving care.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in assisted living, patient care, or a related caregiving role.
• Basic knowledge of patient care principles and safety protocols.
• Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Capability to maintain accurate records and perform basic logging duties.
• Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation with proof of vehicle insurance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Personal Care Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or equivalent is preferred but will provide training to the right individual.
• Experience working in an assisted living facility or home care environment.
• Familiarity with front desk operations and customer service in healthcare settings.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Assist clients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
• Monitor and document patient conditions, behaviors, and any changes, ensuring accurate logging and timely communication with healthcare staff.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the mental and emotional well-being of individuals under care.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment in accordance with assisted living facility standards and protocols.
• Support front desk operations as needed, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and coordinating appointments or activities.

Skills:

The required skills such as patience and customer service are essential for building trusting relationships with residents and their families, ensuring compassionate and respectful care. Assisted living and patient care knowledge enable the assistant to perform daily tasks safely and efficiently while recognizing changes in patient conditions. Logging skills are critical for maintaining accurate and timely documentation, which supports effective communication with healthcare teams. Being a fast learner allows the assistant to adapt quickly to new procedures, technologies, or resident needs, enhancing overall care quality. Additionally, front desk and assisted living facility experience help the assistant manage administrative tasks smoothly, contributing to a well-organized and supportive care environment.

Flexible schedule but must be able to work at least three weekends a month.
