Bakery Machine Operator2nd Shift Hours: 12:15pm - 08:45pmPurpose Statement:The bakery machine operator will learn to operate a variety of mechanized bakery production equipment including but not limited to the mixer, divider, proofer, & oven. Check and ensure product specification standards are being met as required by company authorized standards while performing the tasks in a safe and efficient manner.Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties):Verify weights and order completionsLoading and unloading pans from production lineLoading and unloading oven and/or proof boxMonitor for foreign material all the timeEnsure proper placement of product in traysRemove dough from the conveyor belts that do not meet specificationsResponsible for reporting and taking necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurringResponsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the food safety plan, the food quality plan, and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3rd party audits.Performs quality assurance checks; taking temperatures and weight of dough, recording results on documentationRecords and accounts for all materials used on the line for assigned shiftAdditional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisorEffectively communicates as required with supervisor or bakery team lead.Adhere to all CGMP's (current good manufacturing practices), such as good hand washingPractices and adhering to the employee hygiene plan.Performs housekeeping and maintenance tasks to keep the production area clean, organized and safe. Not an all-inclusive list, may perform other tasks as directed by management.Set-Up & Operation of Equipment:Ensures that the necessary tools, settings, and supplies are ready prior to productionMonitor and adjust the temperature controls of the oven and proof roomOperate and control and perform adjustments on conveyors and rollers.Record information such as down time, waste, order completions, package verification, quality assurance checks, finish product scoring etc.Removes and assembles equipment for cleaning.Makes minor machine adjustment and informs the supervisor and the maintenance department when major repairs are required.Requirements:Education & Experience:High school diploma or GED is preferred but not requiredA combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted.Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changesPrior experience or training in manufacturing or supply-chain environment is preferredAbility to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions with high level of detailSome analytical ability required in order to gather and interpret data in situations where the problems are somewhat complex in dealing with ingredient formulations.Independent judgment is often required. Some direct guidance is received from supervisor and/or from established procedures or instructions. The consequence of errors is significant in cost in time, product loss or public acceptance of product quality.Must have visual and mental ability to identify various products and read and understand instructions, gauges and thermometers.Must be able to perform basic arithmetic to include adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.Physical Requirements:The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
