Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Sonata Vero Beach, Vero Beach, FL Job Summary Responsible for carrying out the instructions of the Director of Wellness. Supervise and monitor nursing staff to obtain highest quality care by performing routine nursing duties. Accountable to Director of Wellness/Executive Director for all nursing department activities and maintaining the corporate philosophy of quality care. Duties and Responsibilities Supervise HHAs, CNAs, and facility staff. Make daily rounds of all assisted living and retirement residents. Observe and report symptoms and conditions of patients to Director of Wellness, delegating RN/Physician. Administer medications and treatments per signed doctor’s orders accurately and safely; observe effectiveness and report to physician if needed. Inform DOW of when supplies and equipment are needed. Order medications from pharmacy when needed. Supervise the Home Health Aide to ensure nursing care is given properly, safely, and of the highest quality. Administer emergency first aid. Ensure daily patient care assignments, incidental duties, and documentation (V/S, weights, nurse’s notes, medication, kardex, etc.) are carried out. Maintain cleanliness and neatness of nurse’s station, med room, and cart. Assist in orientation of new staff. Complete admission and discharge evaluations as necessary. Check equipment for cleanliness and condition. Provide guidance for nursing assistants. Promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships with residents, visitors, and personnel. Perform related work as required per assignment. Understand duties and responsibilities for assisted living and independent residents throughout the facility. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program, currently licensed to practice per state. Work experience in the geriatric field. Ability to communicate well in writing and verbally. Ability to deal with visitors, staff, and residents in a courteous manner. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 60 lbs. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure at times. Ability to perform good grooming practices, personal hygiene, and be punctual and regular in attendance. Warm, friendly, congenial personality; professional appearance and empathetic attitude toward seniors. Ability to assess a resident’s condition and intervene when needed. CPR certified, or obtain certification within 90 days of hire and yearly thereafter. May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.
