Princeton Day School is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Architect and Project Manager to design and manage projects for the Facilities Department and Campus Community reporting to the Director of Facility Operations.

This is a full-time 12-month exempt position which requires schedule flexibility based on project needs; during peak busy times extended hours beyond 40 hours per week as well as evenings and weekends may be required.

For this position, the ideal candidate is expected to:

• Review, direct and execute work pertaining to the planning, execution, and monitoring of renovation, modernization, improvement, deferred maintenance and construction projects, and coordinates project activities with other facilities and community stakeholders, assuming responsibility for developing a master project plan that includes cost, scope, schedule, and the effects of the interruption on the school community.
• Confirm all designs and projects align with the school's mission, vision, values and the culture of the PDS community.
• Produce project descriptions, definitions, specifications, drawings and RFPs for contract architects, contractors, engineers, facilities personnel, and other stakeholders.
• Assume responsibility for fiscal control and cost management of all projects.
• Conduct daily management of all projects on the PDS campus, confirming they meet or exceed the scope, schedule, budget and goals of the project.
• Provide written and oral reports regarding project status to stakeholders as necessary, including administration.
• Conduct focused and detailed interviews with stakeholders to collect project requirements, diverse viewpoints, project goals, expectations, concerns and potential challenges related to proposed projects and purchases.
• Document, organize and track all project documentation, from conception to close out.
• Conduct value engineering exercises to confirm PDS is getting the most value for its investment.
• Ensure that continuous and closed loop communications take place with all stakeholders.
• Complete project close-out documentation and tasks, including confirming all proper close-out documents are provided to PDS by architects, contractors and engineers and that they are properly archived.
• Build, add to and manage a building asset management program, including spaces, furniture, fixtures, equipment and structures.
• Build, add to and manage a capital renovation and renewal program for PDS to include all spaces and FF&E.
• Archive and inventory our blueprints.
• Make design decisions for FF&E purchases as well as renovation projects in concert with stakeholders.
• Standardize FF&E purchases, to keep the architectural look of PDS consistent.
• Participate in and contribute to the Master Planning Process.
• Conduct in depth research into complex projects, blueprints and design documents to give administration the detailed information they need to make effective decisions.
• Work with the township engineers, zoning and building department as well as other regulatory agencies to research what is needed to accomplish PDS's goals.
• Collaborate with outside resources working on PDS's projects, such as external architects and engineers, to confirm PDS's needs and goals are properly communicated and understood by these firms.
• Provide feedback to the facility management team that comes from your interaction with the PDS community.
• Effectively communicate and build good working relationships with all PDS community members.

• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Required Licenses and Experience:

• A registered architect license.
• At least 5-10 years of design and project management experience.
• A valid driver's license (insurable under the school's auto policy).

Physical Demands:

The physical demands listed are representative are those necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds on occasion. The employee must be able to walk, stoop, climb and crawl and stand for periods of 4 hours or more. Working at heights is required.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully an individual should have strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft or Google products. Strength in data analysis, report preparation and data interpretation skills are necessary. Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and/or other architectural software is required.

Compensation Range : $100,000 - $130,000 a year (this role is eligible for benefits)
