Senior Revenue Accountant

NextStep Recruiting has partnered with a growing financial-services organization in Fort Worth seeking an experienced Senior Revenue Accountant to join its accounting team.

Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will own revenue accounting, revenue-related month-end close activities, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and system-to-general-ledger validation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with strong hands-on accounting experience who enjoys investigating discrepancies, working with transaction-level data, and improving accounting processes.

What You'll Do

• Prepare recurring and non-routine revenue journal entries.
• Account for interest income, lease income, fee income, deferred items, and other revenue-generating activities.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close activities.
• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Investigate reconciling items, unusual activity, aging balances, and period-over-period variances.
• Validate revenue activity between operational systems and the general ledger.
• Assist with revenue recognition analysis under applicable U.S. GAAP guidance.
• Maintain documentation supporting accounting conclusions and journal entries.
• Partner with Accounting, Operations, Servicing, IT, and other teams to resolve data and posting issues.
• Assist with system mapping, configuration changes, and revenue-related interfaces.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve or automate recurring accounting processes.
• Provide clear updates to the Controller regarding open items, issues, and required decisions.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong month-end close, journal entry, and account reconciliation experience.
• Experience with revenue recognition or revenue-related accounting.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience analyzing detailed financial or transaction-level data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

• Banking, lending, leasing, specialty finance, or equipment finance.
• ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• ASC 842 lease accounting.
• Public accounting or financial-services audit.
• System-to-general-ledger reconciliations.
• Lending or lease servicing platforms.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Power BI, SQL, or Databricks.
• CPA or active progress toward CPA certification.
• CECL / ASC 326.
