Description of Job

The Work Unit:

The Prevention Services Division (PSD) is actively building a workforce reflective of the diverse communities we serve. The Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention (HPCDP) Branch in the Prevention Services Division (PSD) reviews plans designs implements and evaluates public health interventions for chronic diseases and related risk factors to and improve health related quality of life for all Coloradans. Particular emphasis is placed on evidence-based practices data-driven and evidence informed decision-making capacity building partnerships and the integration of program efforts to improve efficiency and effectiveness. The statewide chronic disease programs within the HPCDP Branch include Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Comprehensive Cancer Control Colorectal Cancer Control Diabetes Prevention and Management Alzheimers and Related Dementias Healthy Eating and Active Living the Cancer Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Disease Grants Program and the Tobacco Education Prevention and Cessation Grants Program.

This position is housed in the Diabetes Cardiovascular Health and Alzheimers Disease and Related Dementias Unit (CarDiADRD Unit) which focuses on engaging with health systems community-based organizations and other partners to improve chronic disease outcomes for Coloradans. The unit also collaborates with internal programs including those focused on cancer healthy eating and active living tobacco informatics among others to support a comprehensive system of partnerships that address specific chronic disease needs in innovative and sustainable ways.

What You Will Do:
This position serves as a first level supervisor over the Chronic Disease Workforce and Training Program and is subject matter expert for chronic disease workforce development training and workforce infrastructure while severing as the main point of contact for key workforce development partners and related Rural Health Transformation partners. The position applies advanced an advanced skillset of public health practice chronic disease prevention workforce development rural health community-clinical linkages health equity evidence-based intervention implementation and public health systems to provide strategic guidance for and oversight of all chronic disease workforce initiatives in the CarDiADRD Unit including the Community Health Worker (CHW) Regional Health Connector (RHC) infrastructure and expansion of chronic disease trainings for CHWs pharmacists residents and other health professionals delivering services and supports to people at risk for or who are living with chronic diseases.

Minimum Qualifications:
NOTE: An applicant may meet the minimum qualifications for this job in one of two ways: They may qualify through their work experience alone or through a combination of education and work experience. Experience Only:

Eight (8) years of relevant experience in public health health care population health health professional training higher education workforce development or a closely related field. Relevant experience must include work involving the development of health-related professional training.

Or

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education with a degree in public health epidemiology health services administration health care administration population health health policy higher education or workforce development and/or relevant experience in public health health care population health health professional training higher education workforce development or a closely related field and relevant experience must include work involving the development of health-related professional trainingequal to eight (8) years.

In addition to the minimum requirements the successful candidate in this position will have the following highly desirable experience and competencies:

1. Demonstrated experience supervising professional program staff balancing competing priorities developing project management plans resolving team conflicts and fostering a collaborative accountable work environment.

2. Demonstrated experience developing communicating and implementing cohesive programmatic strategy and direction including identifying project goals and responsibilities scoping projects determining methods for achieving goals continuous quality monitoring and improvement and directing work processes involving internal and external partners.

3. Demonstrated expertise overseeing and implementing complex funding and administrative arrangements including overall budget management project procurement and lifecycle (competitive solicitation scope of work negotiation budget monitoring and closeouts) and outcome tracking and reporting.

4. Demonstrated initiative in developing internal and external partnerships including assessing landscapes researching potential partners conducting outreach and communicating program goals developing collaborative projects that meet program goals and maintaining professional relationships that yield results.

5. Demonstrated experience in communicating about highly-visible projects and topics including experience as a subject matter expert identifying potential challenges and opportunities and communicating them with organizational leadership and proactively developing solutions to potential challenges in sensitive environments.

6. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing training models for health professionals including the development of workforce pipelines both within academic institutions and in partnership with community-based organizations.

• TRAVEL: This position will travel 10% of the time travel is predominately in-state to meet with local stakeholders and partners with occasional out-of-state travel to meet with national partners. Local travel is approximately 2-3 times monthly; out-of-state travel is approximately twice per year.
