Summary:

The Department Head of the Process Technology Department provides academic and administrative leadership for all instructional and operational activities within the Process Technology program. The role ensures high-quality education aligned with industry standards, oversee curriculum development, supports faculty excellence, manages departmental resources, and fosters partnerships with industries to promote student success and workforce readiness.

Leadership/ Organizational experience in one or more of the following:

Shift Foreman/ Team leader

Board Operator/ Operations controller

Military experience in a leadership role

Teaching or technical trainer experience

Equipment operation experience in most if not all:

Heat exchangers

Cooling Towers

Furnaces

Boilers

Pumps

Compressors

Drivers

Distillation Columns

DCS

Control loop components

Process variables

Troubleshooting

Familiarity with the utilization of:

Start-up, Shut-down, operational, and emergency procedures

Work Permits

Work requests

LOTO

Process Diagrams

PPE

Microsoft Office, Moodle, Teams, etc

Responsibilities:

• Apply course lesson plans to deliver hands-on instruction in classroom and laboratory settings.
• Promote and instill safe working practices.
• Record trainee performance and submit written reports.
• Provide trainee advisement on instructional matters.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or higher level of formal education.
• Minimum of 3 years training in PTEC; experience in the field.
• Ability to work independently and self-manage.
• Ability to supervise instructional staff within the department(s).
• Advise students with a true concern for outcome of students and learning.
• Answer / advise students questions about their career.
• Basic Process Technology Principles; methodologies and functions of Process Technology.
• Ability to communicate on an individual as well as group level.
• Ability and desire to manage staff.

Preferred:

• Associate in PTEC
• 10+ yrs. Experience
• Management/Leadership skills
• Teaching/Training Experience
• Competent in computer skills
