Job Title
Under general supervision of the Youth Enrichment Supervisor, assists in planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing the instructional and non-instructional services and activities provided under the City's state licensed preschool programs; and performs related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
Essential functions are those functions that the individual who holds the position must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
- Serve as a representative of the City of Mesquite, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and with the public.
- Organize, oversee, and conduct daily planning and supervision of all activities.
- Provides classroom instruction.
- Works with students individually and in small groups to assist with the learning of skills introduced in class while adhering to all related City and department policies and procedures, federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations and licensing requirements.
- Establishes routines and provides guidance, communicates observations regularly with the pre-school and/or Recreation Supervisor Administrator and parents/guardians.
- Support special facilities and other recreational programs; assist guests and patrons, enforce rules, provide customer service, ensure programs are delivered in a safe and secure manner.
- Oversees all day-to-day on-site functions during program operation; maintain quality assurance through compliance to rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the implementation and management of participant attendance and payment by working in conjunction with the Department. Provide customer service and general information, and resolve problems and customer service inquiries within scope authority.
- Before releasing the child from the program, asks parents for proper government-issued picture ID and ensures they are on the Participant Information form before releasing the child.
- Ensure every child is signed in/out by an adult listed on the Participant Information form.
- Assists with administrative work and recordkeeping; prepares instructional materials, displays, bulletin bords, and other non-instructional tasks as assigned.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Arranges furniture and equipment for various learning activities and experiences, maintains the orderly arrangement of materials and equipment within the classroom.
- Provide excellent customer care by guiding participants in activities and maintaining a safe, clean, and friendly environment.
- Maintain effective communication and work relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and patrons using proper verbal and non-verbal communication skills (body language, facial expressions, vocal tone, eye contact, and choice of words.)
- Implement parent handbook and behavioral guidelines; use and maintain proper documentation of behavior reports.
- Responds to written correspondence, i.e. memos, availabilities and emails, by date requested.
- Participates in required in-service workshops and programs and attends meetings as required.
- Delegate authority in a positive and professional manner.
- Exhibit positive leadership skills and professional attitude at all times.
- Follow through with Staff Code of Conduct, participation, dress code, and safety regulations with enthusiasm and professionalism.
- Be dependable and meet acceptable attendance requirements at all times.
- Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations.

Qualifications
The degree of knowledge and ability as outlined under this section is that which is necessary to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of this position. Knowledge of, Skills and Abilities:

Experience, Education, and Training: Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience which provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
- Education: Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience: Two (2) years of experience working in a childcare center or licensed preschool.
- Note: An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
- American Red Cross Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation/First Aid and AED Certifications.
- Signs & Symptoms of illness.
- Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Recognizing & reporting child abuse & neglect.
- Other state required classes.
License or Certificate:
- Must possess, at the time of employment and continuously throughout employment, a valid Nevada or "border state" Class "C" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, the following certifications within three (3) months of hire:
- American Red Cross Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) OR equivalent.
- All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by state and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained and potentially maintained at the incumbent's expense.
Special Requirement: Per NAC 432A.300, applicants must be 18 years of age at the time of application.
