Production Support Technician

Job Duties

Prepare finished jobs for shipment or customer pickup

Package, label and organize outgoing orders

Receive paper, materials and other incoming shipments

Verify deliveries and help maintain accurate paper and supply inventories

Make local deliveries and pickups using a company vehicle

Perform hand bindery work, including counting, sorting, collating, padding, packing and other finishing tasks

Assist operators with job setup, material handling and production

Help maintain and repair printing, mailing and bindery equipment

Perform routine preventive maintenance under the direction of experienced operators

Help troubleshoot mechanical problems and identify equipment or facility issues

Perform general building and grounds maintenance, including lawn care, snow removal and seasonal outdoor work

Maintain clean, safe and organized production, warehouse and exterior work areas

Read and follow job tickets, written instructions and established procedures

Inspect work and materials to ensure accuracy and quality

Assist in other production departments as workload and scheduling require

Learn to operate printing, mailing, bindery or finishing equipment based on employee's interests, abilities and company needs

Minimum Education Required

High school diploma or GED

Minimum Experience Required

Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in understanding how equipment works

Dependable attendance and the ability to arrive ready to work on schedule

Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record

Ability to safely operate a company delivery vehicle

Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds

Ability to stand, walk, bend and perform physical work for extended periods

Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Excellent attention to detail

Good organizational and time-management skills

Ability to follow instructions, prioritize work and meet deadlines

Commitment to safe work practices

Previous experience in printing, manufacturing, maintenance, warehousing, shipping or equipment operation is helpful but not required
