Staff Accountant

USNR, a leading manufacturer of sawmill equipment with divisions located throughout the U.S. and Canada, is seeking a highly motivated individual to become our Staff Accountant to join our team in Woodland, WA.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the Company's accounting and financial reporting functions. This role performs key accounting activities including account reconciliations, month-end close procedures, financial statement preparation, sales tax reporting, and fixed asset accounting. The Staff Accountant also provides backup support for accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
• Prepare and process month-end journal entries
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
• Analyze account activity and investigate variances
• Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned facilities or business units
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns in multiple jurisdictions
• Reconcile company credit card accounts
• Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules
• Assist with audit and tax requests
• Provide backup support for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions as needed
• Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• One (1) or more years of accounting experience preferred
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting preferred

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to analyze and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Positive, professional attitude with the ability to work effectively across departments
• Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently

Compensation : $31-$37/hour DOE
