Interim Inventory Accounting Manager Our client, a consumer products company, is seeking an Interim Inventory Accounting Manager to strengthen its inventory and cost accounting capabilities during a period of growth and systems transformation. This role is on-site five days per week in the San Francisco East Bay. This role has an anticipated duration of approximately 12 months. Responsibilities Oversee accounting for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory in accordance with U.S. GAAP Manage inventory valuation, standard costing, cost of goods sold reporting, reserves, and related journal entries Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory close activities, including reconciliations and roll-forwards Analyze purchase price, production, waste, yield, and obsolescence variances and communicate actionable findings Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, and FP&A to align financial reporting with inventory movement and operational activity Provide visibility into cost drivers, margin impacts, inventory risks, and opportunities for improvement Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis related to inventory levels and cost structures Develop scalable accounting processes, controls, workflows, and reporting practices Support ERP transformation activities involving inventory and cost accounting processes Prepare audit schedules, respond to information requests, and maintain supporting documentation Provide guidance and accountability across inventory accounting activities as needed Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years focused on inventory or cost accounting Strong inventory and cost accounting experience within consumer products, manufacturing, or another inventory-intensive environment Deep understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, reserves, cost of goods sold, inventory flows, and related close activities Advanced ERP, Excel, and data-analysis capabilities, with experience supporting audits, process improvements, and U.S. GAAP compliance Compensation Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors, including but not limited to: The individual's skill sets, experience, and training; Licensure and certifications; Office location and other geographic considerations; Other business and organizational needs.
