Order Picker 1st Shift

The Order Picker packages small parts used in side-view mirrors for semi-trucks and larger RVs, ensuring each order is accurate, properly labeled, and safely prepared for shipment. This role combines hands-on packaging, basic computer use, and inventory tasks in a clean, organized warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect small parts for quality and accuracy before packaging.
• Perform inventory checks to confirm correct quantities for each order.
• Wrap and package components to complete customer orders according to established procedures.
• Stand at a waist-high conveyor system and move completed boxes by rolling them to the end of the conveyor.
• Use a computer to locate purchase receipts and verify order details.
• Print labels and apply them accurately to packages.
• Return unused or extra parts to inventory and update records as needed.
• Enter completed parts and order information into the computer system.
• Count and weigh parts to ensure quantities match order requirements.
• Lift packages weighing up to 25–30 pounds occasionally, with most packages weighing less than 10 pounds.
• Follow warehouse safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Support picking, packing, and shipping activities as needed to meet daily goals.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of warehouse experience.
• At least 1 year of packaging experience.
• Ability to perform inventory tasks, including counting and verifying parts.
• Experience with order picking in a warehouse or distribution setting.
• Basic computer skills to locate purchase receipts, print labels, and enter data.
• Ability to use or learn RF scanners for inventory and picking activities.
• Capability to stand for extended periods at a conveyor line.
• Ability to occasionally lift 25–30 pounds and frequently handle lighter packages.
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate counts, labels, and order completion.
• Reliability and consistency in following established processes and safety practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with shipping processes in a warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with RF scanners and basic warehouse technology.
• Comfort working in a structured picking, packing, and shipping operation.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate inventory and order records.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small production team.
• Willingness to learn different tasks within the warehouse to support overall operations.

Work Environment

This role operates on a first shift schedule from 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., with no overtime expected while on contract. You will work in a clean, organized warehouse focused solely on picking, packing, and shipping rather than production lines. The environment is not loud, and while it can get warm in the summer, conditions remain manageable. The team consists of about 20 workers across production, warehouse, maintenance, and operations, creating a close-knit atmosphere. You will stand at a waist-high conveyor system to handle boxes and parts, using basic computer equipment and RF scanners as part of the workflow. The dress code is typical for a warehouse setting, prioritizing safety and comfort while working around packaging and shipping activities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Berlin, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
