Make a difference in the lives of young learners by supporting students who benefit from a dedicated and compassionate professional. This full-time contract opportunity spans from now through May 2027, providing stability and growth while working with elementary-aged students in a self-contained special education classroom. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, offering a consistent and predictable schedule that allows you to focus on what matters most—student development.
You will serve a classroom of 10 to 12 K-5 students, providing individualized instruction and implementing strategies tailored to those on the autism spectrum, particularly those with low communication abilities and behavioral needs. Your expertise will be crucial in helping inspire, guide, and nurture students, creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification for K-5 in Missouri
- Previous experience leading self-contained classrooms
- Deep familiarity working with students on the autism spectrum, especially those with low communication skills
- Strong background in elementary education and behavioral intervention strategies
- Passion for cultivating a supportive and respectful classroom community
- Effective communication skills for meaningful collaboration with students, families, and colleagues
Responsibilities:
- Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt instruction to meet student needs
- Implement behavior management plans and provide positive reinforcement
- Foster a structured, safe, and engaging classroom environment
- Collaborate with aides, support staff, and related service providers
- Maintain accurate records of student growth, progress, and communication with families
