Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Provide medical evaluations and treatment of clients under the supervision of the Medical Director and work collaboratively with the medical/clinical staff under the guidelines of state licensure for Nurse Practitioners-PMHNP, PMH-CNS/Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist or APRN-CNS. Assume personal responsibility to comply with Federal, State and local laws governing business conduct, conducts business in ethical and trustworthy manner and displays the qualities characteristics of a professional at all times when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, employees/co-workers, etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

\n

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

\n

• Master’s in Nursing required with Nurse Practitioner-PMHNP, PMHCNS/Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist or APRN/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or program from an accredited college or university.

\n

• Current Ohio Nurse Practitioner, APRN or PMHCNS License/Certification.

\n

• Clinical experience working with specified client population of all ages.

\n

• Board Certification preferred.

\n

• Linked to Medicare & Medicaid and possess a Provider Number.

\n

• Previous experience in child/adolescent, outpatient setting, preferred.

\n

• Good knowledge of criteria for Medicare, Medicaid, HMO and private insurance coverage.

\n

• Good knowledge of therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit setting, behavior management, and establishing/maintaining therapeutic relationships and boundaries appropriate to age of patient population served.

\n

• Ability to consistently demonstrate a high level of reliability, accountability, and organizational understanding.

\n

• Current BLS, CPR and CPI certification required.

\n

\n

• Possess strong clinical assessment and process skills. Knowledge of psychopathology and general knowledge of medical care of patients

• Understanding of resiliency and recovery in mental illness and substance abuse, and treatment approaches and techniques.

\n

• Strong interest in working with patients with psychiatric diagnoses.

\n

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

\n

• Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.

• Assertive and personable with the ability to balance the complex challenge of delivering quality, cost-appropriate, and service oriented outcomes.

• Execute various paperwork, like information files processing, and other daily administrative tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

\n

• Responsible for providing psychiatric services to clients in a variety of clinical settings during scheduled hours. Scope of services includes outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management services. • Provision of minimum number of billable hours of service as required by facility CEO and/or budget.

\n

• Assess, diagnose, and treat geriatric, adults, adolescents, and children experiencing symptoms of behavioral health disorders. o Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement and the state’s Nurse Practice Act. o Collaborate with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate client care. o Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries.

▪ Record and analyze patient progress. Document services in accordance with hospital policy and requirements.

\n

• Documentation reflects nursing process, including individualized education and discharge planning needs of client and family.

\n

• Develop an individualized treatment plan with measurable goals that reflects understanding of treatment process.

\n

• Design/participate in the development of individualized treatment plans.

\n

o Maximize productivity through proficient use of appropriate technology, including EMR/WellSky, etc.

\n

o May focus on health promotion and disease prevention.

\n

o May order, perform or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work.

\n

• Communicate with physicians and other staff as necessary to provide quality care for client within appropriate guidelines.

\n

• Evaluate interventions for effectiveness.

\n

o Maximize opportunities for quality care.

\n

o Contribute to and participate in performance improvement.

\n

o Encourage family involvement in client care. Respond to identified client and family educational needs. • Maintain appropriate and safe physical management skill requirements.

• Support and follow legal requirements, clinic policy and procedures, medical staff bylaws and regulatory requirements.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals as appropriate to the position. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form. Ability to define and solve problems and collect data.
