Work Environment

This position operates in a fully remote work setting, allowing our Licensed Mental Health Counselors to utilize telehealth platforms to connect with clients. Candidates will enjoy a regular work schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, promoting work-life balance while engaging in meaningful work aimed at fostering better mental health outcomes for our elderly community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their unique needs and developing personalized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions, addressing emotional challenges linked to aging, including anxiety, depression, and bereavement.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to construct and implement holistic care plans that improve overall wellness for geriatric residents.
  • Initiate educational programs for staff and family members that promote best practices in supporting the mental well-being of elderly individuals.
  • Deliver grief and loss counseling services to both residents and their families in instances of significant life transitions or end-of-life issues.
  • Facilitate cognitive stimulation and mental health interventions aimed at enhancing mental acuity and promoting proactive mental health management among senior clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on the geriatric population, comprising elderly individuals navigating complex emotional landscapes due to loss, transition into advanced age, and various mental health issues. The ideal candidate will have the experience and sensitivity required to support clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and tailor interventions that respect their unique life experiences.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
  • A minimum of four years of recent experience providing mental health support to elderly individuals.
  • A strong understanding of evidence-based interventions and methodologies pertinent to geriatric mental health.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform thorough assessments and craft personalized treatment approaches.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills necessary to establish rapport with older adults and their families.
  • Commitment to ethical standards and legal compliance in the field of geriatric mental health counseling.

Preferred Experience

  • Specialized training in geriatric mental health or aging-related issues.
  • Experience using telehealth platforms to deliver counseling effectively.
