About the Role: To provide clinical and administrative support in the efficient operation of the assigned department by performing a variety of clinical, clerical, and administrative functions in support of the Ambulatory Infusion Centers (AIC). The Medical Assistant provides routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other health care team members in an AIC setting. The Medical Assistant works under the clinical supervision of the provider for patient care activities and under the general direction of the designated manager for non-clinical responsibilities.

Schedule: PRN Monday Friday Saturdays as needed 8:00 AM 5:00 PM.

Service Areas: Gastonia NC and nearby clinics as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) American Medical Technologists (AMT) National Health Career Association (CCMA) National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA).
• BLS or obtained upon hire.
• Prior medical assistant or medical assistant externship experience.
• Proficient at partner programs (i.e.: MS Outlook Word Excel).
• Ability to cope with ambiguous changing environment while under pressure in a calm manner.
• Must be able to work as a team member and develop productive and cooperative working relationships with all members of the Palmetto Infusion team.

Essential Functions:

• Performs visit intake process including insurance and other administrative verifications, vital signs, weight, and verifies patient record data related to patients visit.
• Collects patient data including medical and social history.
• Reviews patients current medication list and allergies.
• Assists the provider as directed during treatments.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers subcutaneous injections under the direction of a provider.
• Prepares, cleans, stocks, and maintains the clinic.
• Assists with patient registration check in/check out, appointment scheduling, and collection of co-pays associated with patient visits.
• Assists in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.

About the Benefits:

The anticipated pay range for this position is 20-23/hour. Final compensation is based on factors including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, and hear. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, vendors, and staff.
