Job Summary
W e are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead medium- to high-complexity business and technology initiatives within a structured Project Management Office (PMO) environment. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating project activities to ensure approved objectives, scope, timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are achieved.
Job Description
- Lead multiple medium- to high-complexity projects simultaneously under established PMO governance frameworks.
- Develop, manage, and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), resource allocations, budgets, and forecasts.
- Partner with business owners and technical leads to establish project delivery strategies and execution plans.
- Drive project execution by facilitating decisions, resolving blockers, managing risks, and ensuring progress across all workstreams.
- Monitor project performance and maintain alignment with approved scope, timelines, budget, and quality objectives.
- Provide clear, concise project updates and recommendations to executive sponsors, steering committees, and senior leadership.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across business and technology functions.
- Facilitate discussions, negotiations, and conflict resolution among project participants and resource managers.
- Escalate project issues and competing priorities appropriately to support timely decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to project governance standards, methodologies, and reporting requirements.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Maintain project documentation and audit-ready records throughout the project lifecycle.
- Operate effectively within a highly regulated and compliance-focused environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO.
- Coordinate project resources across matrixed organizations and negotiate resource commitments among competing priorities.
- Manage cross-functional and cross-program dependencies impacting project outcomes.
- Oversee vendor procurement, engagement, deliverables, and performance when applicable.
- Monitor project team timesheet compliance, including review and approval processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support organizational readiness, user adoption, implementation planning, and change management activities.
- Promote effective communication and alignment across impacted teams and departments.
- Utilize project management, collaboration, reporting, and data analysis tools to improve project delivery effectiveness.
- Leverage emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to enhance planning, communication, and execution efficiency.
Skills Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects, product delivery initiatives, or complex workstreams.
- Experience working within a formal enterprise PMO utilizing structured phase-gate or tollgate governance methodologies.
- Demonstrated success managing medium- to high-complexity projects involving cross-functional teams and shared resource pools.
- Experience operating within matrixed organizations requiring resource negotiation and stakeholder alignment.
- Experience in highly regulated, compliance-focused environments with formal documentation and reporting requirements.
- Experience utilizing waterfall and hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar project planning and tracking tools.
- Strong knowledge of project management best practices, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
- Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within electric utility, energy market, transmission, distribution, grid operations, or related industries.
- Experience supporting commercial operations, market systems, settlements, customer registration, retail applications, or regulatory programs.
- Experience with grid planning, forecasting, network modeling, EMS platforms, or operational technology systems.
- Experience managing customer-facing digital platforms, portals, or web-based applications.
- Familiarity with AI tools and prompt engineering techniques to support project delivery and productivity.
Preferred certifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Agile or Scrum Certification
- Organizational Change Management Certification
- Lean Six Sigma Certification
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field;
- OR Equivalent combination of education and professional experience providing comparable knowledge and skills.
Pay rate
- $60 - $77 per hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
