We're seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer in Newark, NJ to design mechanical and HVAC systems for commercial construction projects and support construction execution.

Support project teams by resolving technical issues during construction and ensuring design intent is achieved
Ensure code compliance through thorough review of mechanical designs and construction documents
Drive innovation by incorporating new technologies and sustainable design strategies into projects

Responsibilities

Design HVAC systems for commercial buildings including equipment selection and ductwork design
Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software
Prepare mechanical construction documents including plans, details, and specifications
Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, and electrical disciplines
Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design requirements
Provide field engineering support including site visits and RFI responses
Participate in commissioning activities and verify system performance
Mentor junior engineers on mechanical design principles and engineering standards

Requirements

Must-Haves
5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in commercial construction
PE license required (New Jersey or ability to obtain reciprocity)
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design software
Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards, mechanical codes, and energy standards
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited program
Experience with commercial HVAC system design

Nice-to-Haves
LEED AP certification or other sustainability credentials
Experience with healthcare or laboratory HVAC design
Knowledge of building automation systems and controls
