Senior Quality Coordinator

Scope of Position Monitors all Quality activities on a project and ensures compliance with the Quality Implementation Plan (QIP). Participates in design phase activities, and document reviews. Understands design documents and performs preconstruction (preparatory) meetings, first work in place (initial) observations and periodic (follow-up) observations to ensure compliance with the design documents, submittals, manufacturer’s requirements, and best practices. Promotes use of materials, finishes, and details with excellent long‑term quality performance. Job Responsibilities Initiates QIP on every assigned project. During design phase: Conducts design Quality kick‑off meeting. Ensures design reviews are completed and signed off at 30 and 100%. Ensures Quality risks and mitigation plans are established/documented. Personally reviews final documents on all assigned projects. Ensures that geotechnical, concrete and envelope reviews are held on all assigned projects. Performs geotechnical report review. Advises Project Director, Construction Project Manager and Design Project Manager on critical related information. Recommends alternative solutions and engages QA Manager when appropriate. During construction phase: Conducts construction Quality kick‑off meeting. Participates in the selection and evaluation of independent testing agencies to support project construction phase. Develops budgets, administers contracts, and monitors scheduled activities, such as reports, field activities, tests and inspections on all agencies contracted. Distributes test results to appropriate design and Quality team members. Performs testing, when required, on all scheduled activities not covered by the testing agency or subcontractor. Finalizes the remaining Quality risks with well‑developed mitigation plans. In conjunction with the Project Manager and Superintendent ensures all precons/preparatory meetings required by the QIP are conducted. Conducts meetings in area of expertise. Ensures that all first work in place (initial) observations are scheduled and conducted. Also monitors progress of all required corrective measures. Performs observations in area of expertise. Ensures in cooperation with Design Project Manager, Construction Project Manager and Superintendent that all site (follow‑up) observations are conducted. Performs all assigned QA inspections, prepares reports, documents deficiencies, and monitors progress of all corrective measures. Performs the following QC checks during site visits: verification of materials, compliance with material storage, protection and maintenance requirements (including motors), material installation compliance with documents (foundation systems, slab on ground, structural framing systems, building enclosure systems, interior partitions, interior finishes, mechanical system installation, electrical system installation, and equipment installation). Notifies project team to provide assistance for checks in areas outside of expertise. During the closeout phase: Ensures in cooperation with the Construction Project Manager and Superintendent that Haskell completion conference and subcontractor completion conferences are conducted and documented. Monitors that AE punch lists are created and completed. Performs final QA punch list, documents findings and verifies/documents completion of those items. Conducts/coordinates in conjunction with the Project Director, Design Project Manager and Construction Project Manager a lesson learned meeting. Prepares lessons learned document and distributes to project team and Director of Quality. Produces reports which are concise, thorough, logically structured and well written for each QIP activity for which they are responsible. Distributes reports in a timely manner. Communicates to the Quality Manager or Director of Quality potential inconsistencies, deficiencies, errors, omissions and conditions that expose the company to liability expenses. Defines and documents corrective actions. Communicates and initiates resolution through the Construction Project Manager, Design Project Manager, and Superintendent. Monitors deficiencies to ensure corrective action. Participates in QIP audits with the Quality Manager and/or Director of Quality as requested. Actively engages in the development and creation of Qualigrams and Best Practices. Actively participates in the technical development of the Quality Coordinators and Associates and provides training for the Quality Coordinators and Quality Associates. Performs a minimum of 2 seminars each year to large audience to improve quality and technical knowledge of staff. Attends a minimum of 24 hours each year of professional development (in or out of house) to improve knowledge base. Creates and implements, with supervisor input, a development plan to become recognized as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) in additional areas within the company in a specific area of interest related to the quality of work. Prepares monthly summary of all assigned QIP's, notes trends and participates in Monthly delivery group QIP meetings. Participates in QIP audits with the Quality Manager and Director of Quality as requested. Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalent with 12 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience – Bachelor’s from an accredited university in architecture, engineering, construction management or other degree related to the AEC profession. Experience in technical design and/or construction expertise and background in Quality preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications Etc. Certifications (Minimum of 2): CQM (government), ACI level I, II, ACI National, ICRI, RCI Roofing Inspector, Structural Steel Erector, Soils testing and mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineering for non‑engineers. SME (Subject Matter Expert): recognized corporately as a subject matter expert in a minimum of 2 areas. Ability to read and effectively interpret building construction documentation and associated reports. Ability to conduct effective preconstruction conferences to define Quality standards and inspection procedures. Ability to inspect construction progress at scheduled intervals. Ability to interfaces with client’s Quality personnel and provides direction to ensure compliance with testing, inspection procedures and results to onsite Quality Control inspectors. Excellent interpersonal/communication skills to effectively work with others. Excellent organizational skills to handle/prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and follow‑up. Computer skills: Ability to work with a laptop, tablet (iPad or Microsoft equivalent), and mobile devices. Ability to access project information remotely when working outside the office using VPN and/or Citrix. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to utilize project management controls system software and other applicable construction technologies including basic 3‑D model navigation skills utilizing: Navisworks, BIM 360 Glue or similar. Ability to manage/store project photos from tablet and mobile devices to project files. Ability to travel to project sites. Travel will be greater than 70% of this individual’s time. Assignments may be full time on‑site for the full project duration. Successfully completed or will successfully complete within one year the OSHA 30‑hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program.
