Surgical Tech II, Nights, Labor & Delivery - $20k Bonus

Surgical Tech II Organization Labor & Delivery Job Summary The Surgical Tech II facilitates patient care by assisting physicians and nursing staff before, during and after surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile field and providing instruments and supplies required by the surgeons in a sterile manner. The role requires creating and maintaining the sterile field and assisting the surgical team in a 3x12 night shift schedule with occasional guidance. Provides competent assistance to most cases in the service. Shift Details Full-time, nights, 3x12s Weekend and call requirement – 4 weekend shifts and 2 call shifts per 6 weeks Compensation Sign‑On Bonus: $20,000 (taxable) bonus paid over 2 years (not applicable to current or former staff who worked at VUMC within the past 12 months). Relocation Bonus: Up to $10,000 (taxable) paid within 45 days of hire, based on mileage, must relocate from >100 miles; not applicable to current or former staff who worked at VUMC within the past 12 months. Key Responsibilities Facilitates patient care by assisting the surgeon before, during and after procedures. Plans, sets up, performs and cleans up the assigned procedure as a circulator and scrub tech. Performs sharp, sponge, and instrument counts according to policy. Demonstrates knowledge and application of Principles of Asepsis in creating and maintaining sterile field. Additional duties may be assigned. Qualifications Required Graduate of an approved surgical technologist specific discipline OR successful completion of a U.S. armed forces surgical technologist training program during service. Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience. Prior Labor & Delivery experience preferred. Certification from one of the listed issuers below. NBSTSA CST – National Board of Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants, Certified Surgical Technologist. NCCT TSC – National Center for Competency Testing, Tech In Surgery. Exceptions If graduate of a surgical technologist armed forces training program, no certification is required.
