How You'll Contribute Receive inquiry calls and assist the caller with scheduling a face‑to‑face assessment or triage to the appropriate community referral. Assess or ensure assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment. Screen for medical and behavioral emergency conditions. Perform a comprehensive assessment and provide quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders. Coordinate with the clinical team/on‑call physician to ensure these needs are met either at the facility or with other appropriate community providers. Interpret treatment to patients and families to help reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment. Complete the administrative processes of admission and precertification of care with external payers, as necessary. Qualifications and Requirements Master's degree in social work or counseling required; current state licensure, Independent Licensure highly preferred. Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred. Must have strong clinical assessment skills. CPR and CPI certified within 30 days. Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime, and meet typing keyboard expectations. With proper credentials, the Specialist may be required to complete vitals checks on patients.
