PR Muncie - Test TechnicianSummaryInspect, take measurements and conduct a prescribed range of evaluations, both mechanical and electrical, to ensure locomotives are meeting all specifications before qualifying and shipping to customers.Key Job ElementsTest all electrical and mechanical, and electronic locomotive systems and sub-assemblies including complicated circuits, electrical measurements, air brake systems, diesel engines, and interactions between all systemsDiagnose, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair all defects found during testingConduct track testing of all types of locomotives and be expected to follow all rules pertaining to the operation of a locomotiveFollow written/scope of work instructions and or QWI's consistently, accurately, and safelyCalculate and record dataResponsible for test set-ups and special instrumentations required to determine parts performance and systems characteristicsOperate Locomotive and other rolling equipment such as tuggers and fork trucksRead precision instruments and gaugesOperate overhead cranesAdvanced duties and responsibilitiesResponsible for troubleshooting methods to identify problems, critically analyze and develop solutions, and report key findings to quality organization and internal production departmentsAssign and Manage employees' daily work scope to ensure work is completed safely, in a timely manner QualificationsAssociate's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering technology and at least 5 years of related experienceTechnical knowledge to detect a deficiency with written skills to record deficiencies in an easily understandable manner and the expertise to repair the deficiency (if required)Electrical / mechanical experience with the ability to troubleshoot problems using schematics and other test engineering specifications. Functional understanding of (locomotive) electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systemsUnderstand mechanical / electrical / pneumatic / hydraulic schematics flowchartsMust be able to make locomotive repairs and use tools typically found in a locomotive maintenance facilityMust have experience in a high voltage environment, computer/electronics knowledge and a working knowledge of test equipmentMust have experience in using a variety of computer software programs including Windows and Office products Title: Test TechnicianLocation: Muncie, IndianaHire Type: Contract to HireSchedule:• 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday, 2:00pm-10:30pm• 3rd Shift: Sunday-Thursday, 9:30pm-6:00am (or 7:30pm-6:00am with OT)Compensation: $27-$34/hourOverviewWe are seeking a Test Technician to inspect, measure, and evaluate locomotive systems to ensure they meet all specifications prior to shipment. This role focuses on electrical and mechanical testing, troubleshooting defects, and supporting safe and accurate testing procedures in a production environment.Key Responsibilities• Test electrical, mechanical, and electronic locomotive systems and sub-assemblies• Identify, troubleshoot, and repair defects found during testing• Conduct locomotive track testing following all safety and operational procedures• Follow written work instructions and testing procedures accurately• Record and document test data and measurements• Set up test equipment and instrumentation for system evaluations• Operate locomotives, forklifts, tuggers, and overhead cranes as needed• Read and interpret gauges, schematics, and precision instrumentsQualifications• Associate's degree in electrical or mechanical technology preferred with related experience• Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings• Familiarity with locomotive or heavy equipment maintenance environments preferred• Experience using test equipment and basic computer software (Windows, Office)• Strong attention to detail and safety compliance• Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environmentQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
