Associate Director, Accounting

Job Title

Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly close process, including preparation/review of journal entries and account reconciliations
• Manage Accounting Payable - Ensure proper approval of invoices in compliance with our purchase authorization matrix and resolve escalated issues and inquiries
• Prepare and file 1099s, use tax and ensure compliance with all other IRS regulations and filings
• Responsible for full cycle payroll processing, reporting and compliance
• Responsible for Stock Administration accuracy and timeliness of recording and reporting all equity award activities
• Prepare and present monthly financial reports and executive close summary of results
• Assist with the transition of accounting activities from an external consulting company to in-house
• Partner with Controller / VP, Finance on ERP and expense reporting implementation and other accounting systems and tools
• Partner with Controller / VP, Finance on implementing and monitoring accounting policies, procedures and SOX compliance
• Be a mentor and leader to staff by providing guidance, support and training
• Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
• 8+ years of relevant work experience preferably in public biotech or technology
• CPA certification with a minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and experience with SEC regulations
• Accounting ERP system experience, preferably in Netsuite or similar
• Experience using Bill.com and expense reporting systems or similar
• Experience using Gusto or similar payroll system and Carta or similar equity administration system
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to work in G-Suite
• Organized and strong attention to detail with an ability to simultaneously research discrepancies and solve problems
• Effective communicator with good verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent project management skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional leaders and others in the company
• Ability to work independently with general direction and guidance
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in an ever changing environment
