Operations Group Lead (Industrial Solutions)

Position: Operations Group Lead (Industrial Solutions) Location: Hendersonville, NC Job Purpose We’re building a brand-new state‑of‑the‑art facility dedicated to creating power generation systems for data centers and microgrid applications. This new hub will be at the heart of BorgWarner’s latest growth initiative, bringing together engineering, innovation, and technology in one dynamic space. Key Responsibilities Manage all business aspects of the 3‑shift, 7‑days operation of the department and ensure daily production demands are met. Ensure a safe work environment and drive investigation and root cause analysis for all safety‑related incidents. Define area KPI performance metrics with the Operations Manager. Lead daily production meetings to plan the next 24 hours of production. Lead weekly core team meetings and actions to accomplish long‑term goals associated with safety, quality, launch, and productivity. Participate in and approve scheduling of the production area and any required overtime. Perform weekly LPA to align Safety, Quality, TPM, and Environmental pieces of the business. Support and drive the lean manufacturing system; assign work; recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, employee relations, and working conditions. Execute departmental disciplinary actions, corrective actions, and terminations. Oversee all departmental activities in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Manage area performance measures and individual employee work performance; provide coaching and direction to employees at various levels. Provide support for all shifts during the week and weekends, if necessary. Ensure required documents (standard work, process sheets, control plans, FMEA’s, FPPA, job instructions, etc.) are completed and on the line. Ensure proper and timely disposition of parts on hold related to rework or scrapping. Actively support downtime, quality, or performance needs through troubleshooting and problem solving using methodologies such as 8D, 6‑Sigma, etc. Ensure future program needs are met through evaluation of department capacity, OEE, cycle times, etc. Develop working relationships with manufacturing, quality, human resources, IT, accounting, materials, and equipment suppliers to facilitate process improvements. Lead and motivate employees per BorgWarner philosophy; provide adequate training and development, maintaining the departmental training matrix and ensuring sufficient cross‑training. Ensure accurate and effective communication through shift change‑over meetings. Maintain 5S+ Gold Level through section. Drive accountability through Team Leader reports for line output and other KPIs. Propose recovery plans to recuperate downtime and ensure line targets are achieved. Ensure effective escalation procedures are maintained within teams. Actively drive the department to have a positive impact on the PnL. Perform other duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred. 5+ years of manufacturing experience. Strong technical skills and knowledge of lean manufacturing processes/procedures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Professional verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with proven safety programs or quality programs (e.g., Kaizen) is a plus. Experience in building, leading, and motivating teams preferred. Fundamental knowledge of machine design principles, pneumatics, hydraulics, and machine control preferred. Familiarity with project management techniques and tools (GANTT, PERT charts, etc.). General knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) principles.
