Student Monitor

Description The Student Monitor helps set up and break down the lunch area daily, monitors and assists students during their lunch period, and actively works towards keeping the lunch area clean and safe. This position also provides recess coverage support by filling in for our full-time Student Monitors during their breaks or time off. Candidates must have interpersonal skills that allow them to interact positively and safely with students and staff members, collaborate with team members, and take direction from supervisors. Duties and Responsibilities Set up lunch tables and lunch carts in the lunch area daily. Monitor student behavior and appropriately intervene when necessary. Promote and demonstrate through example a positive and peaceful atmosphere. Assist students with lunch-related issues. Keep and release students on schedule. Wipe tables after each lunch period. Collaborate with custodial staff and student volunteers to clean up messes and maintain a clean lunch area. Provide recess coverage support. Understand and enforce standards and policies provided by administrators. Report student behavioral concerns to the teacher or administrators. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma. Demonstrated willingness to work positively with staff toward the mission and vision of the school. Positive attitude towards children. Physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing required tasks and duties essential to the position. Reporting Structure The Student Monitor reports directly to the Dean of Students and will be reviewed annually. Physical Requirements Individuals in this position must be able to reasonably meet all physical requirements to meet the listed duties and responsibilities.
