Legal Billing Specialist (19FB59C1A8845f48) Austin, Texas Legal Billing Rate Specialist Location: Dallas–Fort Worth or Austin, Texas Employment Type: Full-Time Work Arrangement: On-site during the first 90 days; hybrid schedule thereafter Search Type: Confidential Law Firm Opportunity Position Overview A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Billing Rate Specialist to join its Finance team. The position may be based in either the Dallas–Fort Worth or Austin office. Only one individual will be hired. This role requires prior legal billing experience and hands-on experience using Aderant and/or Elite 3E. The billing department processes approximately 300–500 invoices each month, so the successful candidate must understand law firm billing operations and be prepared to contribute quickly with limited ramp-up time. The Billing Rate Specialist will help maintain the accuracy of client billing rates, matter information, and fee arrangements while working closely with attorneys, billing personnel, and other finance professionals. Key Responsibilities Administer and maintain client billing rates and fee arrangements Update client and matter rate information in the firm’s financial systems Review and process billing rate changes, adjustments, and revaluations Assist with annual and ongoing billing rate reviews Support a high-volume legal billing operation processing approximately 300–500 invoices per month Review billing information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies Prepare rate analyses, reports, and exception tracking Respond to billing and rate inquiries from attorneys and internal stakeholders Coordinate with billing professionals, accounting personnel, and attorneys to address billing issues Assist with billing process improvements and special finance projects Manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting billing deadlines Required Qualifications Minimum of three years of legal billing experience Hands-on experience with Aderant and/or Elite 3E Working knowledge of law firm billing practices, terminology, and procedures Ability to contribute effectively in a high-volume billing environment with limited training Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Professional and responsive internal customer-service skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working within an Am Law-ranked or comparably sophisticated law firm Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field Experience supporting complex client billing arrangements and rate structures Work Arrangement The position will be on-site during the first 90 days for training and integration. After 90 days, the employee will be eligible for a hybrid schedule consisting of four days in the office and one remote day per week. Candidates must be able to work from either the Dallas–Fort Worth or Austin office. This search is intended to fill one position in one of those locations.
