Details Work in a 36-bed Medical Oncology Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU-level care Care for high-acuity oncology patients with solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses Rare pediatric oncology patients present but primarily cared for by permanent staff Patient ratios of 1:4-5 for Med Surg Telemetry and 1:3 for PCU Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30), with schedules reviewed every 4-week period Weekend shifts are variable Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity Uses B450 GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, PCA pumps, and continuous bladder irrigation equipment Epic EMR experience required Requirements Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months At least 1 year of PCU experience required Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program Skills required include dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response team utilization, feeding tube management, port access, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV insertion, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, PCA management, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care Oncology, chemotherapy administration, wound care, arterial line management, and insulin drip titration experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted Additional Information Provide high-acuity progressive care nursing with a strong focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention Oncology experience preferred but not required First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates accepted at the same rate Former employees eligible for assignment consideration after being away from the facility for 6 months or more Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignment at this location Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and built into the contract prior to consideration Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract, either by traveling to an in-state location or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet American Traveler Job ID P-747999.
