Location: Tuscaloosa, AL
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Weekly Gross Pay: $2,175

Schedule

• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend
• Holidays as required

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Tele for a 13-week travel assignment. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients while monitoring cardiac rhythms, administering medications and treatments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred.
• Candidates with 18 months of experience may be considered if they have:
  • Worked under the highest level of professional licensure.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the specialty .
• ASN/Associate Degree in Nursing required.
• Active Alabama RN license or Compact RN license required.
• Temporary licenses are not accepted .
• Current BLS certification from:
  • American Heart Association (AHA), or
  • American Red Cross.
• Must be able to successfully pass a Basic Dysrhythmia exam .
• Strong Med Surg/Telemetry nursing experience required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to Med Surg/Telemetry patients.
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and patient conditions.
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
• Assess patients and document changes in condition.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Meditech .
• Follow hospital policies, procedures, and patient-safety standards.
• Float to other units and hospitals as required.

Patient Ratios

• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6

Floating Requirements

• Travelers must be willing to float to other units and hospitals based on facility needs.

Contract Information

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per contract without penalty; cancellations are expected to be rare.
• Overtime: Paid after 48 hours worked , regardless of whether the scheduled workweek is 36 or 48 hours.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN)
• Active AL or Compact RN license
• ASN degree
• BLS – AHA or American Red Cross
• Med Surg/Telemetry experience
• Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge and competency
• Willingness to float as required
