About the Opportunity

Our independent, physician-led emergency medicine group is actively recruiting dedicated physicians to staff four Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSEDs) affiliated with Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, Texas. Be part of a collaborative team focused on high-quality emergency care and long-term community partnerships. We offer full-time and part-time opportunities, competitive compensation, paid malpractice coverage, and a negotiable sign-on bonus.

If you are Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM) — or a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician with strong emergency medicine experience — we encourage you to apply.

Available Sites – Amarillo Freestanding Emergency Departments

Our group staffs four modern Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSEDs) across Amarillo, offering a variety of practice settings, volumes, and shift structures.

• Northwest Emergency on Georgia: 9-bed ED | ~30,000 annual visits | 24-hour physician + 12-hour APP coverage | 4% admission rate | Ambulance receiving with on-site CT, X-ray, and ultrasound.
• Northwest Emergency at Town Square: 12-bed ED | ~20,000 annual visits | 24-hour physician + APP support (five days/week) | 4% admission rate | Full imaging and lab services.
• Northwest Emergency at Tascosa: New facility opened February 2025 | Full-service FSED with on-site imaging and lab | Flexible 12- or 24-hour shifts.
• Northwest Emergency at Eastern: Opening May 2025 | Comprehensive emergency care with imaging and lab | Flexible 12- or 24-hour shifts.

• Cerner EMR
• Independent Contractor (1099) model
• Competitive compensation package
• Paid malpractice with tail coverage
• Sign-on bonus negotiable

Qualifications

• MD or DO with Primary Care Boards (FM/IM) or ABEM Board Certification
• Current ATLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (required)
• Eligible for a Texas medical license
• Strong communication skills and team-oriented approach
• Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered emergency care
